Thursday Thirteen - Mother in Different Languages

Header by Samulli

A mother's love is a special gift and as children, the word "mother" signifies care, love and sacrifice. Whatever language we speak, the love and affection that accompanies the word is the same everywhere. When I became a mom, it is one of the sweetest words I love to hear, my son calling me Mommy. So for Mother's Day, I thought of sharing 13 different languages for the word Mother.
  1. Filipino - Ina, Nanay
  2. Chechen - Nana
  3. Japanese - Okaasan
  4. Italian - Madre, Mamma
  5. French - Me're
  6. Slovak - Matka
  7. German - Mutter
  8. Danish - Mor
  9. Hawaiian - Makuahine
  10. Persian - Maman
  11. Arabic - Ahm
  12. Bulgarian - Majka
  13. Czech - Abatyse
