mommy time is me time

My cousin Cristine invited me to a seminar at The Spa in The Fort for a launch of one of it's wellness service and she also invited me to accompany her to go shopping before the seminar. I said yes because I was free last Saturday and I also wanted to have quality mommy time for myself. I was early at our meeting place so I decided to go around and window shop when I saw a huge selection of cosmetics and makeup tools. I'm really not into makeup, but I wanted to learn more about applying the proper makeup on myself to update my look.

It has been a long time since I went shopping for makeup because the ones I use now are mostly gifts from friends or from relatives from the U.S. or Canada. They must have really thought that I needed one. I have seen a lot of really good lipsticks including the one I saw on the internet, which is the Avon Glazewear which is very light and easy to apply. It's perfect for a date with hubby and the color really makes you think of warm summer nights.

And speaking of cosmetics, I have heard a lot about organic beauty products, which has gained popularity because of increasing consumer concern for the environment, health and safety. I got Burt's Bees Head to Toe Starter Kit for myself as it contains sampler size products. We are using Burt's Bees Res-Q Ointment for Joaqui, so I know it contains natural ingredients.

Since I am already in the healthy and beauty department of the store, I got my sister-in-law a Tweezerman Professional Pedicure Kit as a birthday gift since she is fond of doing her own nails. I also remembered Mylene, another sister-in-law who recently graduated from college, and bought her a compact makeup mirror as a graduation gift. I thought she will need it as she will be starting work soon.

When I thought I was done with my shopping, I saw this Bobbi Brown Pink Palette and bought if for myself as a gift since I have been working really hard for the past months. There goes all my incentive pay! But I don't really mind since looking polished will boost my self-esteem and confidence and I know I will feel good about myself.

I really believe that mommy time is a must for all moms especially those who work and/or stay at home like me. It gave me a sense of fulfillment about myself and re-energized me for another week or month of mommy and wife duties. ; )

Lately I find myself daydreaming (which is really not unusual) more than I should ; ) When I found this quiz, I readily took it and I like the result. Aside from being a dreamer, I'm a doer after all. Read on....

You Are a Doer

You are primarily concerned with what is actual. You tend to be a practical person.

You love to stay busy, and you are always immersed in projects.

You are in touch with your senses, and you enjoy indulging them. You're likely a crafter of some sort.

You crave different sensations in life, whether it's working with your hands, playing sports, or eating your favorite meal.

buying a house

One of our plans eventually is to buy our own house someday. Last month we were looking for an apartment or a house for rent, but as hubby and I discussed this and has had a chance to think about it, we would rather save until we can afford to buy a property than rent. We are also looking into rent to own's but we cannot find the one that will suit our needs.

We have been referred by some of our friends to realtors, who I think are just as knowledgeable and experienced as the ones I read about Austin Realtors.  I believe that a realtor can serve us by letting us know what houses are available that meet our needs as they have access to a special database and by answering questions about the process. He or she should also help us get the best price on these properties. I have also learned that a good realtor should be competent with a good track record and an established reputation within the industry.

Since it would take quite some time before we can realize the dream of owning a home, we are doing our own research on how to a buy a house and exploring other options that might be able to help us. We are also studying all the costs that are involved in buying a home. For now, we are praying hard and working hard to make this dream a reality.

more awards

I have been receiving a lot of awards these days, such as these two awards from Genebie and I thank you for these. It's like winning in an Oscars indeed. I hope I wasn't quite too late in posting these. I was away for the weekend and was very tired yesterday, so I just got the time today to update.

I'm sharing these with Mec, Pheng, Lissa and Joey.

united colors

Keeping in touch with friends is so much easier now with social network sites, email and chat rooms and in an effort to stay updated with each one of us in our group, my friend Arlyne created a yahoo group for us to chat and share pictures. We sometimes call this United Colors of Benetton because we live in different countries - New Jersey, U.S.A., Malaysia, Canada, Philippines and Qatar.

Although my friends and I are all Filipinos, we have come to know of different cultures and languages, much like becoming interracial so to speak. And for people of different racial groups, an interesting site would be interracial chat rooms where one can communicate with interracial people from all over the world. People from different walks of life can always find someone to talk to in this chat room and also can participate in webcam chat for free. One can know more about the world by chatting and meeting up with people from different racial groups or ethnic groups. This could also be a resource for those wanting to meet people of diverse nationalities and cultures.

The different languages we speak is not a barrier in how we can communicate with one another. Being able to reach out, to work in harmony and understanding our differences as a people can make the world a better place.

a millionaire flirt and ASAP

It was a very tiring day for me yesterday and I wasn't expecting that a 3-hour TV show could be a whole day affair! We had to be in ABS-CBN by around 9:30 a.m., ate lunch in 15 minutes and had to fall in line at about 10 a.m. and actually enter the studio at 11:30 a.m. It was tiring but it was fun and I had a great time watching it because of the performances and the different showbiz personalities I saw. I even had a picture with Martin Nievera, but I won't post it here ; ) My pictures, my rules...hahaha.

A lot of thoughts went through my mind as the show was going on, especially during commercial breaks. I also thought of how hard it must have been to be in the lime light, and how they handle their personal life apart from all the buzz in showbiz. It came to me that actors/actresses and millionaires have a lot in common, especially when it comes to finding the right person to be with. It's not as simple as it seems because they're famous and people can't get enough of them.

For the millionaire singles, at least there is a premiere sugar daddy and sugar momma dating site where they can meet and chat, and also for those who want to get to know a real single millionaire, they can just sign up here and start looking for one. As far as how "real" they can get, I have no idea. Since it's an online dating website for millionaire singles, it's a good venue for those who want to broaden their horizon in terms of the dating scene. Who knows, there might be a dashing millionaire bachelor who would sweep you off your feet.

And I just have to say this, Angel Locsin is really stunning. She has an aura in her that seems to exude sexual appeal, plus she seems really nice even off camera. I'm just a little disappointed that Piolo Pascual wasn't there. I'm so showbiz! Hahahaha!

Purse Talk

Jona tagged me for what kind of bag I use recently.

1. Post a picture of whatever bag you are carrying as of late. No, you can't go into your closet and pull out your favorite purse! We want to know what you carried today or the last time you left the house.

2. List how much it cost. And this is not to judge. This is for entertainment purposes only. So spill it. And if there is a story to go along with how you obtained it, we'd love to hear it.

3. Tag some chicks. And link back to this post so people know why the heck you're showing everyone your bag.

This Nafnaf bag was given to me by my brother who used to work in Japan. I always carry big bags because I always carry a lot of stuff, but since I had a mommy time last weekend, I decided to use this bag. It also has a lot of separate compartments inside, so although it looks small, it can hold a lot! If I'm with Joaqui, I just put my stuff inside his bag so that I don't carry a separate bag. It was a gift so I really don't know how much it costs, but I'm thankful that it was given to me.

I wonder what bag my other friends are carrying, so I am tagging CheChe, Rhea, Jacque, Con and Janis.

Agustin Inc.

This was a fun tag from Che-Che and thanks for this Che ; ) Let me present to you the Agustin Inc. in stick figures....

And because I had fun doing this, I'm passing it on to everyone in my blogroll who haven't done this yet. Happy Monday!

Mommy Moments - Sentimental Mommy Moments

As a first-time mom, every experience I have with our son Joaqui is memorable and choosing the ones to share for this week's Mommy Moments was quite hard because first and foremost, I'm a Cancerian and so I'm quite an emotional and sentimental person. ; ) And these are the mommy moments close to my heart.

The day he was born because even though I had an uneventful pregnancy, I had a hard time during the delivery. When I saw him for the first time, all the pain and hardships went away.

Every month during Joaqui's first year is memorable for us and we would always have a cake or cupcakes to celebrate it.

Up to now, every milestone achieved makes me proud and sometimes teary eyed. I feel so blessed to have been given the chance to take care of this wonderful gift.

The world is out there to be explored and to be discovered, so every family activity we do is a testimony of how my child will see the world ahead of him and even though sometimes it means letting him go little by little, as a mommy I just want to be there for him always.
