yummy wahmmy

I can't believe I have not posted this here. It's about my new blog called yummywahmmy where I write about stories more of my being a work at home mommy. Wahmmy is short for work at home mommy and yummy is for delicious...because I am one delicious mommy...hahahaha. Actually, I like the sound of it and it rhymes very well. I hope you'll check it out!

Paypal issue

I have a Paypal account and I use it mainly for online purchases. I did not link a debit card or a credit card because I knew that withdrawing money through a debit card or a credit card would incur an extra charge. Now I have to pay something to a fellow blogger through the send money option so that there would be no extra charge, but it was only then that I found out about a sending limit. I have to send her $15 and my limit was only $9, so I sent $8 because I thought that the limit was for a day only. It turned out that it was my limit for life (unless I link up a card)! So I still have $7 balance.

I know this is kind of embarrassing, but I need help so that I can pay my remaining balance. I need someone who has a Paypal account who can send the $7 and then in turn I can send the $7 equivalent in Philippine peso thru bank deposit. I am really hoping somebody will reply to this.

jeng's home cooking blog

If you have been visiting my other blog, Jeng's Home Cooking, you might notice that I have not updated it for quite a while now. I will try to update it as soon as I can. I do not think that I can post recipes there for now because we are still not back in our house and I can't cook yet. I lost my oven and all my stuff for baking including my collection of cook books (sigh). But this will not stop me from writing my other gastronomic adventures and I hope to see you all soon at Jeng's Home Cooking.

thank you Genebei Faith!

I hope my simple thank you will suffice. I love the digital scrapbook greeting you made especially for my birthday. You are one of the bloggers that I admire because of the inspiring thoughts you write in your blog. Thank you so much.

Visit Her and History to see the greeting she made for me. She's always worth the read. ; )

4th of July outing

Since the 4th of July Holiday in the U.S. was a major holiday and only a few dictations come in from the doctors, our company holds its annual "summer outing" on the 4th of July. This time it was in Cattleya Farm Resorts in Antipolo. Joaqui was the first one to go swimming because he so much loves the water. The next day, he spent half a day in the pool swimming and jumping. We had one very happy little boy by the time we came home. : )

Mexican craving

I've been craving for Mexican food these days, and hubby promised me that we will try the new TexMex restaurant we have seen in the newspaper when we have a chance to go out on Saturday. We really like Mexican food, although I go easy on the chili and spices because my tolerance for spicy food is quite low. I wondered what Mexican food suits me and got this for an answer.

You Are Chips and Salsa

You are energetic and a real go getter. You can even be aggressive at times.

You love taking risks and taking the rewards. You are a true daredevil.

You can be a bit greedy in life, and you go after what you want.

You are courageous and edgy. You will do what others are afraid of.

coping with blogger's block

This blog temporarily suffered one. It was awful. I really couldn't let myself write anything. My brain was a clutter of thoughts and Farm Town in Facebook is occupying most of it. So now I have searched the web for some useful tips in battling blogger's block, in case it happens to me again, and here are some:

1. Change your blogging environment. Getting away from the computer and blog can definitely help, but so can blogging from a new location.

2. Keep an idea journal. Idea journals are great in the short term as they are great for recording those impulsive ideas that flow through the mind all day everyday and for creating to do lists for immediate action.

3. Lower your standards. Don't start a post by worrying about being perfect, insightful, original or even grammatically correct. Good writing, like good design, is a process of iteration and editing.

4. Read what other bloggers are saying. One of the srengths of blogging as a medium is the way bloggers interact with one another and build upon each other's ideas.

a. Build on the work of others. Look for inspiration for a new post in what other bloggers are writing about in your niche.
b. Look for the gaps in conversation. It's good to join a conversation, but look for gaps in conversations also and you might just find yourself starting a whole new line of thought.
c. Look outside your niche.
d. Read other bloggers archive. There is an incredible wealth of knowledge locked away in the archives of some of your favorite blogs. Spend some time scanning them and you'll probably find ideas that you could bounce off with some posts of your own.
e. Credit where credit is due. Be generous with giving credit to the bloggers who inspire your thoughts.

5. Stimulate your mind. The saying of "what goes in comes out" is true and what you put into your mind has a direct impact upon what comes out of it.

Now I'm looking into a fresh direction and hopefully can be blog worthy again. ; )

God whispers

Dear Jennniffer,

Paths? There are a million in front of you.
Purpose? Just one.
So be flexible with Paths.
But unflinching with Purpose.

I believe you,
God

P.S. Be committed to your Purpose. Enormous joy and immeasurable blessings await those who are faithful to their purpose.

i've missed the sun

Finally after almost eight days of continuous rain, the sun shone it's face today. I like it when it's raining, but the rains the past few days were quite hard and Joaqui and I can't play outside. So the first thing we did this morning was take our regular walks and I must admit, I've missed the sunshine a lot. No wonder I feel like summer ; )

You Feel Like Summer

Right now, you are filled with energy and excitement.

You feel like you are finally living the life you've always wanted... and you can barely believe it.

You are thriving and making progress. You feel like you can take on any challenge.

You are extremely happy and upbeat. You enjoy every part of your day, and you love the adventure of life.

Energy Saving Search

If you are a Google user like me and it's the search engine you are constantly using, you can help save energy by using Blackle. It saves energy because the screen is predominantly black. In January 2007, a blog post titled Black Google would save 750 Megawatt-hours a year  proposed the theory that a black version of the Google search engine would save a fair bit of energy due to the popularity of the search engine.

I have set my home page to Blackle, as this would save a little bit of energy everytime I load my internet browser. It is a small step, but every bit counts. Visit http://www.blackle.com/about/
to know more about saving energy one search at a time, and help spread the word.

new moon trailer

I saw this from another blogger and I just had to post it here because I'm really curious as to how the movie will go. Of the Twilight saga books, New Moon was my least favorite. Well because there was not a lot of Robert Cullen in there ; ) But when I saw Taylor Lautner's transformation now as the buffed Jacob Black, I can't wait to watch the movie - but it's going to be a long wait as New Moon will be released on November 20, 2009.

how spiritual are you?

My mom and I had a very interesting talk about faith and spirituality in general. There were some issues that we don't agree on, but we both believe that spirituality can be developed and nurtured. I don't consider myself religious, but I do believe that life has a purpose. At least the results of this quiz agrees with me.

You Are Super Spiritual

You are in touch with the world around you, and you find peace in connecting with others.

You believe that every life is special and that every life has a purpose.

You value harmony and understanding. You try not to judge, bicker, and fight.

As simple as it sounds, you truly think it's important to make the world a better place.

interesting blogs

Someone really thought that my blog is interesting ; ) It's Genebei of Her and History and I am grateful for your thoughtfulness. Your blog is equally interesting as well. I find so many blogs that are interesting and some even intriguing, especially when I browse Entrecard for blogs to drop on. Blogging is a different kind of world and what makes me happy about blogging is getting to know other people from different locations and getting connected with them through stories or shared experiences. I have learned so much about life from different perspectives through reading other people's blogs.

Thank you for this award Ge. You are one of the nicest bloggers I have ever met virtually. ; )

footprints in white rock

I forgot to post this last time, which was our trip to White Rock Beach Resort in Zambales. Joaqui had a grand time swimming in the pool and most especially in the beach. He really loves to swim, so we have decided to enrol him in a swimming class next summer. He loved the swimming pool with the slide and I like the wave pool, it was so much fun! The whole family had a blast during this trip and here are some of the pictures taken by hubby.

Have a happy weekend everyone!

boogers' reunion

Boogers is a silly name we call our group of friends way back when I was still working in OTPI and up until now we all remain very good friends. We had a reunion when Connie and Arvin visited the Philippines this month, and we just hang out at The Linden Suites and had fun and catch up on things. Some of us are still working as medical transcriptionists, others worked as nurses and a few have businesses of their own through availment of small business loans

We will miss Arvin and Connie so much and until their next visit, the boogers will have a reunion once again.

you are ceramics

I was teaching Joaqui how to color the other day.  I have noticed that he is interested in a lot of drawing and coloring.  This made me wonder if my son is artistic because her mom is not. ; ) Anyway if I would be a piece of art, according to this quiz, I would be a ceramic. Just read on below...

You Are Ceramics

You are open to the world and it's possibilities. You are able to start something without knowing how it will end.

You trust your intuition above everything else. Going with your gut often works out.

You believe that every day objects can and should be art.

The best art allows ordinary life to be more stylish and beautiful.

my pledge

Today I have pledged my commitment for the Ako Mismo advocacy campaign. It is about making a stand and taking real action for the causes we believe in. It is creating ripples with a small drop of water, making a pledge that you yourself will take action that would hopefully make a big difference.

The happiness of every country depends upon the character of its people, rather than the form of its government. The choice is ours and I choose to start living and make a real positive difference.

the Joaqui way of eating popsicle

Looks like just a simple popsicle, but it's Joaqui's first time to eat a popsicle, which explains the mess. It was licked and devoured by a little boy who loves to eat ice cream. Of course, mommy had fun watching his little boy eat the popsicle the "Joaqui way."

Lola Aba's 82nd Birthday

Lola Aba is Joaqui's great grandmother on hubby's side and she is a very sweet lady. She just recently celebrated her 82nd birthday and I am so happy that Joaqui got to know her great grandmother, at least, on hubby's side. I feel that parents or grandparents who get to see their grandchildren are very much blessed, what more great grandchildren. As you know, Joaqui doesn't have a grandfather anymore as both (me and hubby) of our fathers died before we got married. I'm also happy when I see that Lola Aba is happy when she sees Joaqui, and I wish that she will have many blissful years added to her life.
