Thursday Thirteen - Mother in Different Languages

Header by Samulli

A mother's love is a special gift and as children, the word "mother" signifies care, love and sacrifice. Whatever language we speak, the love and affection that accompanies the word is the same everywhere. When I became a mom, it is one of the sweetest words I love to hear, my son calling me Mommy. So for Mother's Day, I thought of sharing 13 different languages for the word Mother.
  1. Filipino - Ina, Nanay
  2. Chechen - Nana
  3. Japanese - Okaasan
  4. Italian - Madre, Mamma
  5. French - Me're
  6. Slovak - Matka
  7. German - Mutter
  8. Danish - Mor
  9. Hawaiian - Makuahine
  10. Persian - Maman
  11. Arabic - Ahm
  12. Bulgarian - Majka
  13. Czech - Abatyse

big and beautiful

As a child, I have always been on the chubby side. My mom also tells me that I used to have these creases on my arms, legs and neck as a baby because I was really "healthy." Growing up, I have this insecurity about my weight, but it never stopped me from being the best I can be in school. I tried losing weight and even if I lose the excess weight, I would always gain it back. So I was happy to find out that there are dating sites for the BBW or big beautiful women, more so that there are dating sites for black bbw singles. It's not that I'm looking for a date because I'm happily married, but at least more BBWs can find other singles through the site. Of course, being big and beautiful is not enough. It should also be accompanied by a great personality. Big and beautiful inside and out is what really counts. ; )

my pledge

Today I have pledged my commitment for the Ako Mismo advocacy campaign. It is about making a stand and taking real action for the causes we believe in. It is creating ripples with a small drop of water, making a pledge that you yourself will take action that would hopefully make a big difference.

The happiness of every country depends upon the character of its people, rather than the form of its government. The choice is ours and I choose to start living and make a real positive difference.

unlocking a locksmith

I was browsing the site workabroad.ph and found that a locksmith is one of the available overseas job openings for Filipino workers. Locksmiths may work out of a storefront, working out of a vehicle or employed by an institution, and they may specialize in one aspect of the skill such as an automative lock specialist or a master key system specialist. I bet Filipino locksmiths are considered one of the best in the world as they always provide fast and professional services.

Locksmiths are frequently certified in specific skill areas or to a level of skill within the trade, and some Master Locksmiths are licensed and bonded, such as the Portland Locksmith who have been servicing the Portland Tri County area for 16 years. Although historically locksmiths actually made the entire lock, today they are primarily involved in the installation of higher quality lock sets and the design, implementation and management of keying and key control systems. This may be the reason why in some countries, a particular level of qualification or membership of an organization is required before one can become a Master Locksmith.

The technology today also makes it possible for locksmith companies to have their own website to build their customer number and provide other services such as free estimates, so that you will get the best quality of unrivaled service from your locksmith of choice.

what a girl wants

Every girl wants a vacation, and especially for moms like me I want a vacation that is hassle free, budget friendly and stress free. Although it is starting to rain, people are still in vacation mode and a great way to spend the hot summer days is to go to a beach, bask in the sun and relax. Of course, it's a bonus to be able to find all inclusive beach resorts or stay in an all inclusive resort vacation that has all the amenities where every one in the family would enjoy. The internet is a great source for great deals on all inclusive vacation packages with promos and discounts for those who will make early bookings.

This year we have not traveled much, just out of town trips to a beach or a resort, but I promised myself that we would do more traveling next year.  We are even setting aside a travel fund for it. I want to explore the Philippines more since we have great destination spots here. If you are a traveler or an adventurer, the beautiful islands here have something to offer for everyone.

Jeng's Home Cooking

Yep, I have another blog and it's all about food. Actually it's not a new blog, it was my medical transcription blog which I have not updated for quite a while, so I revamped it and made it into a blog about something really close to my heart.

I hope you'll visit me there and make yourself at home with Jeng's Home Cooking.

Pacman is hard as concrete

The much awaited fight of Manny Pacquiao and Ricky Hatton will be this Sunday and I know it's going to be one awesome boxing event. The streets of Manila once again will be quiet and crime rate an all-time low as every one will be watching the event. There are certanily a lot of intriguing uncertainties as to who would really dominate this match, but of course my support goes to Pacman and I hope and pray he wins this for the Filipino people.

In the midst of anticipation, one issue is surfacing up with 50 members of the congress who are going to Las Vegas to watch Manny Pacquiao's fight. Although these politicians said that they would be spending their own money, I doubt that because their salaray comes from our taxes. The travel money would be better spent on projects such as road works with a reliable contractor such as a Phoenix Concrete that specializes in concrete contracting, sidewalks and concrete construction.

They can show their support for Pacman in a lot of ways, without spending hundreds of thousands on airplane ticket, accommodation and boxing match tickets. Manny's fight would be the same anywhere you watch it and patriotism doesn't have to be expensive.

Mommy Moments - Doctor, Doctor Am I Sick?

Joaqui is not a big fan of his pediatrician ; ) I don't mean it in a bad way. Joaqui has a retentive memory, as his pediatrician says, so whenever we go to the doctor's clinic, he would cry because he always thought he would be given vaccine and in Joaqui's words, "tusok doctor." I don't have a picture of Joaqui during one of his doctor's visits, but he has a good-looking pediatrician. ; )

Joaqui has never been hospitalized or confined for any kind of illness. He seldom gets a cough or a cold. The last time he got sick was two months ago when he had gastric viral illness, but that was about it. I'm always praying for Joaqui's good health and we are thankful that our little boy is healthy.
