Mommy Moments - Superhero

mommy moments

I remember the first time Joaqui wore a super hero costume which was Robin of Batman and Robin. It was his first time to attend a super hero costume birthday party and at that time, he had no idea what a super hero is.

When he saw the movie Superman on HBO, he was hooked. He started to pretend he was Superman and asked that we buy him a toy Superman and then a Superman costume. So last year during their school's Family Day with a theme about heroes, he was no less than....

He used to wear this costume all the time, even when playing outside our unit. The people here in our condo area calls him Superman because he is always seen with the red cape on. He used to watch the Superman DVD everyday and his favorite was the helicopter scene. He has watched Superman 1-5 for countless number of times. He knew the main characters from Lois Lane to Mr. Perry White. It came to a point that when someone asked what his name was, he would reply "Clark Kent" and even asked me to buy him a pair of glasses and he wanted a hairstyle like Superman with the curly hair on the front!

This Superman phase lasted for quite a long time, and it slowly faded to be replaced only by Dinosaurs.

Mommy Moments - Family Trips

mommy moments

We have had quite a few family trips and this one was not our last, but it seems to be the most memorable for Joaqui right now because he keeps on telling us that we should go back here. This was during the 16th Hot Air Balloon Festival in Pampanga where we also celebrated our 5th Wedding Anniversary.

We stayed at The Oasis Hotel. It was a quaint cozy hotel and we enjoyed our stay.

Joaqui's chillax position...a proof that he really liked it there.

After watching the early morning take off of the hot air balloons, we spent the rest of the day watching flying airplanes and helicopters, kites up in the air and just relaxing on the lawn.

We're looking forward to more family trips like this soon. Join us at Mommy Moments.

Mommy Moments - Parks

mommy moments

I love going to parks, but unfortunately there are not too many good parks to go to here in Manila. I like looking at the lush greenery, smelling the fresh air and just enjoying the natural surroundings when we go to a park.

This picture was taken when we went to Nuvali in Laguna. I don't know if it counts as a park, but it is open for the public. Air is fresh and the surroundings are clean. It is one of my favorite places to go to.

This was Joaqui's first trip to a park, which was in La Mesa Ecopark.

This was in Quezon City Memorial Circle. We went there past 6 p.m. already, but still Joaqui and his cousin were able to play in their huge playground. We even rented a bicycle and the three of us went around the bike trail. I like going to the circle also because there are a lot of things you can do, plus the huge playground is a fun thing for the kids.

I hope that there would be more parks to go to, especially in the midst of high-rise buildings and condominiums. It would let our children appreciate nature more. For more of this week's theme, just click on the badge above.

Happy Mommy Moments!

Mommy Moments - I am a Daddy!

mommy moments

After our wedding, hubby and I at first decided that we would not have children until after a year of our marriage. This was to give us both time to enjoy the first year of our lives as a married couple. But once while inside the sauna after a gym workout, I had spoken to a woman who said that we should try to conceive as early as possible because what if there was a possibility that it would be difficult for us to have children? She said it's better to know now than later. It had me thinking, and so Mother's Day of 2006 was a very special day because the pregnancy test kit showed a positive result. Hubby was elated and he was very supportive, always accompanying me to doctor's visits and took care of me after I gave birth via C-section. He was a very hands-on Dad and I must admit that I've learned a lot from him. He was even the one who taught me how to carry our baby properly! Up until now, he is still very hands-on with taking care of Joaqui, and an affectionate Dad to our little boy.

I'm glad to share my Daddy Story today at Mommy Moments. Read more of wonderful daddies here.

Mommy Moments - Preggy Tales

mommy moments

Photobucket

Happy Mother's Day to all my fellow mommy bloggers! I hope that you have a great day planned for this day, although I think that it will be a little overshadowed by the Pacquiao-Mosley fight, I think all Moms deserve a special treat for Mother's Day. : )

This picture was taken on December 24, 2006 which was just 4 days before I gave birth to Joaqui. I had an uneventful pregnancy - no morning sickness, no dizziness and no cravings, so hubby was a happy husband to a very pregnant woman like me. The only thing I had to watch for at that time was my weight because I was gaining a little more that what I should, so even though I was pregnant I was on a diet. Up until a week before my delivery, I was doing my usual activities, even doing a lot of shopping because it was the Christmas season at that time. On December 28, I had a little bloody show so we went to our OB-GYNE and when she did an IE, she told me to go the hospital already. After trying for 1-1/2 hours to deliver normally, I had to give birth via C-section and the first thing I said when Joaqui came out was, "Hay, salamat lumabas ka din." It was as if all my worries, pain and fatigue had gone away when I first saw him, and hubby and I and the rest of our families have never been happier for God blessed us with a wonderful child.

Mommy Moments - Black and White

mommy moments

I have no picture of Joaqui that depicts black and white and so I made this for today's theme. This is one of Joaqui's recent pictures. We were at a relative's house blessing in Cavite and he ws playing by the garage. It was extremely hot that day, hence the beads of sweat under his nose. This picture also reminds me of how "siopao-looking" his cheeks are. I was teasing him the other day, I said from now on I will call him "siops" which is short for siopao and then I would plant kisses on both of his cheeks and make "yum, yum" sounds like I'm eating siopao. He would giggle and laugh, but he doesn't want to be called "siops." ; )

Have a wonderful weekend! Join us at Mommy Moments.

Mommy Moments - Birthday Photo

mommy moments

Joaqui celebrated his 4th birthday last December 28 and we just had a simple celebration. We heard mass in the early morning and had lunch at my mom's house. His 4th birthday cake's theme was Superman because he specifically requested for it. After lunch, we went to watch The Great American Circus with his two grandmothers and had dinner at TGIF's afterwards.

Mommy Moments - Summer Plans

mommy moments

Summer - every child's favorite season because as what Bugs Bunny said, "No more classes, no more books, no more teacher's dirty looks!" As for us, if I ask Joaqui about his summer plans, it can only mean two things:

1. Playing - with his toys, by himself or with other children everyday.

2. Dancing. We were supposed to enroll him in swimming classes, but he said he doesn't want to have swimming lessons. Since his school offers a dance workshop for the whole summer and he likes to dance, I asked him if he would like to join a dance workshop and he said yes. It started last April 2, but I forgot my camera that day so I had no pictures. He seems to be enjoying it.

Mommy Moments - Congratulations!

mommy moments

I did not know how fulfilling it was to be able to send your child to school and then watch as they move up to another level or graduate - until now that Joaqui goes to school. Although they did not have a moving up ceremony (he just finished Nursery), they had a Thanksgiving Mass and a simple class farewell party on the last day of their final exams.

We are so proud of Joaqui for what he has achieved in school and how his emotional and social well being developed. Congratulations not only to the students who graduated or moved up to another level, but kudos to the parents who have been a pillar of support for their children.

Mommy Moments - White

mommy moments

Today's theme reminds me that it is the last Friday of the month and next Friday it will be April already. Gosh, days go by so fast! Here are my entries for the color white:

This was during the Buwan ng Wika program, in which Joaqui was wearing a white camisa de chino.

Joaqui in white barong tagalog when he served as a coin bearer for his Ninong Jasper and Tita Jinkee's wedding.

I'm sure you will enjoy looking at other Mommy Moments entries here.

Mommy Moments - Purple

mommy moments

Today is the second Friday of Lent and in the Catholic Liturgy, the color purple is used in the Catholic Church during this time. Purple is used for two reasons: firstly because it is associated with mourning and so anticipates the pain and suffering of the crucifixion, and secondly because purple is the color associated with royalty, and celebrates Christ's resurrection and sovereignty.

I find the color purple a sad color, and so this is not a color that we usually wear, unless it is paired with a brighter, happier color like pink. But since I have a son, I don't think purple and pink is a good combination of colors for his clothes. : )

This was when Joaqui received an award for being "Most Courteous" during the 1st Trimester Reading of Honors for the Preschool Division.

More of the color purple here. Have a blessed weekend!

Mommy Moments - Green

mommy moments

When I ask Joaqui what is his favorite color, he would answer green. I think it's a refreshing color and they say that if your eyes are tired from reading or working in front of the computer, take a minute or two to look at something green and your eyes will feel rested. Anyway, here's my entry for this week's theme.

This was during their Nutrition Month Parade at school. The nursery students wore costumes from the "Go" Food Group. He was a pizza guy with matching pizza box as hat.

In his green swimwear making silly poses during a family reunion at Club Balai Isabel in Batangas.

Mommy Moments - Orange

mommy moments

It has been a long while since I last joined Mommy Moments and I really missed sharing pictures of precious mommy moments with fellow mommy bloggers. This week is about the color orange. I was looking through my photos and I just realized that Joaqui does not wear much orange. He only has one orange shirt, so maybe I need to buy him more clothes of this color.

Here is Joaqui in his orange shirt when we went to the Philippine Air Force Museum.

Wearing his school PE uniform with an orange-painted wall as his background.

Mommy Moments - School Day

mommy moments

This school year is Joaqui's first time to go to school. He is 3-1/2 years old and at the Nursery level. His classes start at 10:30 a.m. and ends at 1:30 p.m. He was a little anxious on his first day at school and would not want to be left alone, but on the second day although he was teary eyed, he agreed to be left in the classroom without me.

This was the first time he wore his school uniform and of course we had to take pictures. ; ) I can't believe how much he has grown when I saw him in his school uniform for the first time. My baby is now a school boy!

When I ask him what they do in school, he would tell me that they color, draw, play and their teacher read them a story. He also tells me that they pray and then eat their "baon." I also always ask him if he is having fun in school and he would tell me yes. We don't do formal lessons yet at home because I don't want to pressure him, but we do coloring and drawings, and most of the time, he would ask me to help him write his name.
