how fast can you type?

I read this from Joey's blog, a fellow n@wie and I think it is very timely that I take this test since I am going to be a full-time medical transcriptionist (I am now a senior medical transcription editor and team leader) -- but that's another story. Anyway, I never took typing lessons until I was trained to be an MT. I was using "pindot system" whenever I was typing and my typing skills just got better and better while I was already working. I remember the games we use to play to memorize the keyboard keys. My co-workers and I will have contests just to know who types the fastest : ) I can't say I'm THAT fast in typing, but at least I've mastered the art of touch typing and I don't have to look from the keyboard to the monitor and back when typing something. I know you want to...go ahead, take the speed test!

the little things

It really is the little things

That mean the most of all...

The "let me help you with that" things

That may seem very small

The "I'll be glad to do it" things

That make your cares much lighter

The "laugh with me, it's funny" things

That make your outlook brighter...

The "never mind the trouble" things

The "yes, I understand,"

The interest and encouragement

In everything you've planned

It really is the little things

The friendly word or smile

That add such happiness to life

And make it more worthwhile.

amazing race asia 2

The Amazing Race Asia 2 has reached its final conclusion and after 12 legs around the world in 24 days, Marc Nelson and Rovilson Fernandez finished third. I always watch The Amazing Race and The Amazing Race Asia and I think that Marc and Rovilson are among the best teams I have seen. Out of the 12 legs of the race, they finished 1st in eight legs, 2nd in two legs and 3rd in the final leg. Disappointed ako kasi third lang sila to the point na parang mas affected pa ko...hahaha. Feeling ko kasi they are the strongest team and the last road block lang talaga ang naging downfall nila, which was identifying and arranging the flags of the countries they have been to during the race. Sigh.
Marc and Rovilson worked well together and displayed good teamwork. They are also funny, always ending their tasks with a sense of humor and a good laugh. My favorite part of the race was during the 7th leg. While waiting for the next available train to Prague from Frankfurt, Rovilson decided to headout to a nearby strip club and do some impromptu pole dancing to earn some spare cash. It was obvious that they were enjoying what they do. Eventhough these hunks only finished third, they have won several prizes during the race, including a total money bonanza of $20,000 from Standard Chartered credit card and a trip to South Africa.
To Mark and Rovilson, you still made the pinoys proud and yes, you are the most animated, exciting, lovable, huggable and most fun team on the Amazing Race Asia.

feels like home

Today is our wedding anniversary, and it has been two years now since Jeff and I made our vows in a quaint old church in Guadalupe, Makati. I remember our wedding day as if it was just yesterday. During our wedding, someone asked me what was it like walking down the aisle. I clearly remembered saying it was like in a movie...with the song "Feels Like Home" being sung on the background, everything was blurred except for Jeff who was waiting for me at the altar. Everything was kind of misty and I felt that we were the only people inside the church.
Somethin' in your eyes, makes me wanna lose myself
Makes me wanna lose myself, in your arms
There's somethin' in your voice, makes my heart beat fast
Hope this feeling lasts, the rest of my life
If you knew how lonely my life has been
And how long I've been so alone
And if you knew how I wanted someone to come along
And change my life the way you've done
It feels like home to me, it feels like home to me
It feels like I'm all the way back where I come from
It feels like home to me, it feels like home to me
It feels like I'm all the way back where I belong
A window breaks, down a long, dark street
And a siren wails in the night
But I'm alright, 'cause I have you here with me
And I can almost see, through the dark there is light
Well, if you knew how much this moment means to me
And how long I've waited for your touch
And if you knew how happy you are making me
I never thought that I'd love anyone so much
It feels like home to me, it feels like home to me
It feels like I'm all the way the back where I come from
It feels like home to me, it feels like home to me
It feels like I'm all the way back where I belong
It feels like I'm all the way back where I belong
To my dear husband, two years had passed and some things have changed, but I am happy that I am home with you. Thank you for the everyday little things and for continuing to build bridges with me.

Drive My Car, Lady Heart

Actually it is not MY car, but our family's car. Jeff and I were contemplating about getting a new car and as we go along the conversation, we can't help but reminisce about our old car's younger years. This is Lady Heart, a 1989 Mitsubishi Lancer EL acquired by my brother in 2004. It was his first car, and eventually when he bought a new car, he had to sell her. Dahil sa sentimental value, Jeff and I opted to buy it from him, at least we are still the owners. The name Lady Heart came from Kristine Hermosa's DJ name in the teleserye Pangako Sa 'Yo and we chose it as a pet name for the car among choices like Amor Powers, Yna or Madam Buenavista. Marami ng pinagdaanan ang pamilya namin kasama si Lady Heart...pagaayos ng papers, when we were preparing for our wedding, pamamasyal, getting me to the hospital when I was about to give birth, charity works, etc. , from good times to hard times. She even survived a ride by Ces...hehehe. It was where Joaqui first learned the word "car." It was with her that I learned to drive. If ever, letting her go would be difficult for Jeff and I. For one, never nya kaming itinirik sa gitna ng daan...yung tipong nakaka-tense na situation. We never had a flat tire with her sa gitna ng isang busy road or highway. We never had one accident with Lady Heart (knock on wood)...well, I also owe this to my husband's safe driving. She is one of the unsung heroes in our lives. Kung ikukumpara ko nga si Lady Heart sa tao, para syang isang matapat na employee. She has provided good service to all of us and if ever she decides to retire, nakakalungkot. She maybe quite old, but with a good care from my husband, she has surpassed a lot of cars her age. Our conversation of buying a new car always ends up in a hope that somehow, we could always keep her. Who knows, if she stays long enough, she might be Joaqui's first car.
